Karine has been exclusively practicing family law since 2005. Prior to forming Burney & Reese, Karine was a partner at Kessler & Solomiany in Atlanta. Karine is a fellow in the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers and received the Georgia Chapter Distinguished AAML Fellow Award in 2022. There are only approximately 32 AAML fellows in the State of Georgia, and Karine is one of the youngest.

Karine is also the Vice-Chair of the Executive Committee of the State Bar of Georgia Family Law Section. She previously served as President of the Cobb County Bar Association Family Law Section and Fundraising Chair of the Family Law Institute. Karine also participates as a Master in the Charles Longstreet Weltner Family Law Inn of Court. She has been recognized as a Georgia Super Lawyer since 2020 and was recognized as a Georgia Super Lawyers Rising Star from 2013 through 2019.  She has also served as a Special Assistant District Attorney to prosecute nuisance actions in a continued effort to combat sex trafficking since 2018.

Through traditional litigation and negotiations, Karine handles complex divorces, child custody disputes, spousal support claims, prenuptial agreements, modification cases, contempt actions, and other related family law matters. She is also trained in collaborative law.
